New Maxum owner

I'm new to boating and recently purchased a 1995 maxim. I'm unsure of the exact model and wondering how a would find that info so I can order the appropriate cover needed.

There should be a manufactures plate near the helm and it will tell you the model. You can also post a picture and somone may be able to identify it.

I'm curious how someone purchases a boat without knowing the model? What did the add state? Does the previous owner not know the model?

Like I said new to boating sold as a 1995 bayliner maxum 17'. That's how one does not know the specific model for parts....thought I would find help on this site not critisism

Dlosh81 you will find lots of help here. Were you able to locate the manufactures plate I mentioned? If not post a few pictures to help identify.

It was not meant as criticism. The previous owner marketed it as 2 different brands. That's strange.

Maybe the HIN will clarify a bit. I believe there is a site where you can look up HIN's.

Welcome Aboard Dlosh81!!! I don't know that anyone was outright criticizing, but I can see how comments could be misinterpretted. Requirements vary from state to state. Some states require a title. some states require a Bill of Sale. Some require both. In many cases, the Make, Model and Hull ID Number (HIN) are attached to these documents. It may be different in South Carolina, I couldn't speak to that.

One way to get the detail you're looking for is to record the HIN. Then take a look at these resource below. You should be able to call Brunswick and Technical Support or Customer Care should be able to tell you the exact model and possibly the features that were shipped from the factory.
