Default Getting to know my '08 1800SR - electrical question

Hello all,

New to me '08 1800SR3...a simple question: I've noticed that the helm switch panel (blower, bildge, nav lights, etc) is active when the battery switch is off, as is the tilt/trim motor. I am fairly confident these items should off when the battery is off so I think the previous owner has done some customization. Want to confirm what is "normal".

On my battery, it looks like the circled wire in the attached diagram, a good-sized red wired with a 50A fuse, is connected right to the battery +'ve. If I'm reading the schematic correctly, this should actually go to the load side of the battery switch, yes?

And same for the tilt-trim motor, should it be active only when the battery is on or active all the time? I can currently operate it with the battery switch off.

TIA for the help, cheers.
John

On many models the trim pump is wired directly to the battery but the helm fuse panel which is powered by the 50 amp breaker is wired threw the battery switch. In the diagram you provided both are wired threw the switch.
