Where are the two located which are currently installed?

Any place with enough surface area to mount the flange and enough depth to house the magnet should be enough. I'd keep them away from the compass.

on my 1800, I enlarged the existing speaker holes and put in 9 inch Fusion marine speakers. Powered them with a 90x2 amp and they sounded fantastic. They won't get kicked or wet in current mounting spots. You could put a free air sub on either side of the pass thru.

A couple photos of the inside of the cockpit would make a lot easier to offer advice.

I will put some pictures soon, thanks to you all for your help.

Someone said in another thread that he has 2 additional wires hooked to nothing, do I have these too?

You probably have an aftermarket stereo in there now, and it is likely wired for four speakers. Maybe a sub too. Any other wiring was probably done by previous owners.

Yes, I’ve installed a new stereo to replace the old tape dek. The wiring harness has additional wiring for 2 more speakers.

I thought there might be 2 additional wires behind the side panels: just looked at a youtube video last night and the crestliner boat had 2 wires already mounted there waiting to be hooked on speakers

Question Additional Speakers

Joyc - My 1992 Maxum 1800SR came with 4 speakers which were not of premium quality. I have since upgraded the entire system with replacing the in-boat speakers with 5.25" Polk Audio speakers. Had to open holes to allow their install. I added a 12" Polk Audio subwoofer to the bow bulkhead. Replaced the deck with a Kenwood HD unit with two amplifiers, one for the subwoofer and the other for the four in boat speakers. The resulting sound has been awesome. Hope you have had success on your project? To see photos of the audio updgrade they are part of my album which is available to all!
