ah I see what you mean now. that makes sense. do you have a picture of it?
I rarely anchor so I'm not sure what, if any issues this would cause. short term I have a thought though, once the anchor is out what is the harm is looping the rode around the cleat to maintain that straighter shot ? It wont' help the chain rub on it's way out but that's only a short portion of the rode anyways.

Yeah I definitely see why that would work well, I like how the chain is going to rub less on the fiberglass as well. At the moment I'm not inclined to drill more holes moving things around since I know this worked for the previous owner for 20 years but I think what this has made me aware of is that when I drop the anchor on mine, I may loop the rode around the center cleat to give it a straighter shot.

I anchor so rarely it's not super relevant to me but it's good to see these layouts and be aware of a potentially better setup!

I use it with a bruce anchor. S.F. Bay is very shallow in many places and it was so easy to just flip a button to anchor.Click image for larger version

I happened on this thread and remembered seeing one from a guy who installed his own and did it right....I'll attach the link to it. It's on a Rinker forum, but he installed it on his Maxum 2400SCR.
