Default Removing strips

I have a 2000 2400 and the strips on the boat are faded. I would like to remove them but I’m not sure of the best way to do it. Anyone have any experience doing this?

Welcome aboard! Your town brings back good memories. Bought my Maxum 3000 in Benton Harbor back in 09. Silver beach, going downtown for shopping, ice cream, the cows.... then there is Wolf's.

OK to answer your question. Use a heat gun. After you have removed your decal you might have a shadow , if so use a fiberglass cleaner like acetone then wax compound. Harbor freight sells a heat gun package that has the gun plus a bunch of attachments that can be useful. When using the gun start by heating up a 2 or 3 inch piece and start pulling it off.
Then start heating and pulling......

Good luck..

Thanks for the reply. I’ll try that. St Joe is a beautiful town. In the summer of course.

Be careful with the heat gun so not to burn the gelcoat.

Always is a chance that the stripe is to old and hard, and you have hard time to remove it.
Than you can use the eraser. I suggest the eraser if you not familiar with heat gun too.
Don't take to long to burn in to gel coat. I see that happen....
Good luck wit your project.

Just for clarification, do you mean "Stripes"? If so it looks like you might have a sticky "e" key. I can fix the title if you would like.

Get a 3M Stripe Off Wheel. Get it with the chuck fitting and it will fit on a standard sized drill. Once removed, I would hit the entire boat with rubbing compound and then wax to try to blend in the lines from the removed stripes.

I removed the old pinstripe on by 3300 with the eraser wheel on a drill and it worked great!
