Main thing is to heal, the boat can wait but getting yourself jacked up will impact every aspect of your life.

This is very true.....I will not be overexerting myself for this boat.....but I will not do nothing either if I feel I can do something....even if it's tinkering with the engine or sandblasting my horn that I got for it....Something I can stand for and not bend too much.

The boat found a new home
And before you think I have up by that statement....... don't get your underwear in a bundle.....I haven't given up.... however... progress has been significantly reduced.... the city received a call for someone owning chickens in the neighborhood... when they came to inspect.. they saw my garage tent and sent me a notice to remove it... because I guess it was a violation of city ordinances......I called the lady to let her know why it was there.... no cares given..... remove the tent or pay a fine.... but guess what??? Non functioning boats are also not allowed to be parked in yards in my town... store it inside.....
Long story short.... garage door is 6 inches shy of fitting the trailer inside.... so here I sit.... paying 75.00 a month for a storage unit.....I am going to do everything I can during the winter to be able to still work on this boat.... always a speed bump with this boat
On the plus side...I now have a 10x24 work areathat is about 15 feet high! I asked the manager of I could work on it and she said as long as I don't make a mess.. that's ok.. .. good grief!

Understand, most places have some type of laws on boats; size, usuable, ….
Just a note but you can get a folding bracket for the trailer. Here is an example but they come in all sizes.

Going on maybe a month since anything productive was accomplished. Boat is no longer in my yard so that makes things slightly harder to work on it....Not to mention the fact that all my toys and tools are still at my house so nothing much can be done until everything is at the storage unit. With that being said, I did purchase a second hand generator for power at the unit, and aside from that, I have turned the majority of my focus onto a separate project. I am rebuilding an old utility trailer. The front half of it is going to be enclosed and the back half is going to be an open flat bed. There will be access doors on the sides that open up to small compartments where I can store tools or whatever else. I want to get this trailer finished before it starts snowing, so at bare minimum, I can load all my tools onto it and get them all over to the storage unit in one shot. Not to mention, given current circumstances with the boat, I now am looking harder at moving elsewhere and will need a good working trailer for that job. I may not be posting and progress may be slowed, but I am still here, hovering around and reading other's threads.

Hey all! I have been missing posting updates. With the cold weather and life getting in the way, I have not been able to get to my storage unit at all this winter. I have been working on purchasing a duplex, working a lot to save up for it, as well as refurbishing a utility trailer so I have something to move all my crap once I do find a duplex. I also am getting married tomorrow, so have been focusing a lot on that as well. I really miss getting at my boat but it is stuck in a small cramped storage unit with no power. Not the ideal spot to have it when I want to work on it. This story is not ended......but it is severely delayed much to my dismay. Once I have a garage to roll the boat into, I plan on really getting started back up again! You may see me struggle, but you'll never see me quit!

Life can be that way, we’ve all faced a challenge or two.
Congratulations on getting married.

I'm fairly new to the forum and have found your post a really useful read. Just wanted to say well done on getting as far as you have to date, it looks a mammoth task. Keep at it if/when you can, you'll get there in the end.

I'm sure lots of people read the threads even if they don't have anything to add.
Yes it has, i've just bought my first Maxum and although the water/moisture test meter I have flagged green (acceptable levels) on both depths GRP and wood. The boat felt somewhat heavy when towing it on my way home.
Needless to say, I have since taken out a few of the plastic plugs (where the foam is injected) and there is some moisture in the back. I've yet to investigate properly (waiting for large hole saws to turn up in the post). The deck feels solid though, else I wouldn't have bought it...
An essential life lesson for me - don't just trust the moisture meters, always physically inspect!!

I just found your post! We just inherited my father in laws boat and it looks just like this. It has been left out in the weather. We have cleaned it out so far and the floors are rotten. Fiberglass all good. I'm so glad we aren't the only ones starting from scratch. This boat is sentimental that's why we will refurbish it. We used it at teens and now so will our kids!

This is very true. I am glad nevertheless.....Feeling kind of bummed out that I just found out that I haven't touched the boat in damn near 9 months. I am home sick for my boat, or having boat withdrawals. LOL...But either way....My home closing date is coming up soon. Will get that baby rolled up into my new garage and once I am established in that house and have all necessary repairs completed....I am getting back at it.
Glad you are inspecting it and not just trusting technology! Have you started your own thread?

I love this!!! You will get so much negativity for going this route....but sometimes, the reasoning behind fixing up a piece of crap, only makes sense to you....but that's all that matters! I personally love fixing old things....You should see the utility trailer that I almost have completely refurbished! Looks brand new!
