Default Cockpit Refigerator

Greetings Everyone,

We are mid-season in one of the best boating summers ever here on Lake Coeur d'Alene. One of the things we're trying to improve on is our ability to keep food and beverages cool over a long weekend. Main refer in galley is always full. We have tried a series of different hard and soft coolers to maximize capacity but not gobble up every sq foot in cockpit or below with containers. Constant recharging with ice is a bit of an issue. We are trying some dry ice as well...again, just experimenting to see what is optimal.

Has anyone with a 3000 added a refer to the port-side dual storage locker in the cockpit? If so, what manufacturer/model did you use? The size of the locker is a bit prohibitive, but maybe someone has found a good solution.

Thanks,

LanikaiMike

I have a 3000, and am considering putting in an ice maker somewhere, or just upgrading my cooler on the starboard side to a yetti.

We bought this year a Yeti 65 cooler (yeticoolers.com) and have placed on the swim platform. We bought the Yeti Tie Down kit and run the boat with the cooler strapped down. These coolers are great. Don't put items like drinks in it that you will need to get in and out of the cooler. It is like having a refrigerator on the back.

I looked into buying a Yetti cooler and boy for what I would of paid......I can buy a lot of ice.....a lot of ice would of gone into my cheap igloo cooler.

They do make the 110v plug in ice makers that you add water and it makes ice in a couple minutes for around $150. Sits on top of your counter.

That's sorta what im thinking, Roger. Haven't looked in to it very hard yet, just an idea at this point. Maybe see about taking it apart and mounting it somewhere. No idea where yet, though.
