Default 2300sr transom and engine mount stringer repair

Over the summer I noticed quite a bit of water getting into the bilge. I performed a tap test and found some delam around the leg so I decided to dig since its cold out. Now we have a project. I found the transom and both engine stringers rotted. Once I removed all the old wood, the drive cutout was blown out and even off centered. My plan is glass two 3/4 pieces of plywood , ( I may use marine grade, haven't decided yet) for the transom and glass it in with CSM and 1708. Plan on doing the same with the engine stringers but thinking that will be 5-6 pieces of laminated 3/4, then glass it. As for the drive cut out, I tapered it on both sides, will glass it, and gelcoat it. Here is some progress so far. Also while its out, I had a small oil leak , im thinking its the rear main seal so I will be replacing that while its out. For when its all glassed up, I plan on installing the transom plate to the back of the engine, and tracing to get the cutout exactly where it needs to be.

Old boats equal rot. Standard plywood can have voids in the inner layers so I would not go cheap here.

I Will be putting in marine grade plywood. Im not going the coosa route due to the expense. I figure if saturate the resin into the wood, it will be waterproof, and heck, it lasted 40 years. I dont plan on having it for 40 more. Just need it to last a little while longer for the kids to outgrow the messy phase. Figure in the next 10 years I will be able to buy my last boat.

well I finally got a week of 60 degree weather and with a small propane heater I was able to get some glass down. I have to apply one more sheet of 1708 followed by CSM on the exterior, and about 5 more sheets of 1708 on the transom. Once those are complete I will start glassing in the engine stringers. Unfortunately, temps are back down this week so work will be slow.

You may miss the beginning of the boating season but will have a hull ready for a few decades.
