Default 1995 2400 scr stairs?

hi guys and gals,

In my 95 maxum 2400 it seems like the stairs going into the cabin would have a void under them, seems like a big waste of storage space. I bought a compact heater that plumbs into the engine so we can have cabin heat for those chilly days. I though mounting it in the middle riser would be ideal but I don't want to tear up the carpet and tread to find a road block. Anyone ventured into what's under the steps? It looks like the first step also goes under the closet area so id have to cut it for access to the "void" if so.

Cheers!

P.s. I tried to mount it above the fridge first, im shy about an inch of clearance with the bathroom sink, so that's a no go.

I have the same year and model boat and that is where I have a heater mounted, there is plenty of room for one . You will have access the mid cabin port side to run the power and hoses. The switch for mine is on the dash. You will also have to cut in an air intake in the steps. mine are side by side.
Hope this helps

Yes on the port side there is a shelf that has screws that let you remove the face, you will have to remove the mattress to get at the screws at the floor of the cave, then you will have access to where you can run the hoses and electrical for the heater.
I do not know if the face of the stairs can be removed, but the heater and air inlet grill is mounted from the cabin side , not the inside of the step.

Good luck.
Don

I'm pretty sure I have the same heater as you in mine based upon the picture you have shown me before. I haven't had a chance to tinker with it yet, even though I know it works. but I have a question for you.

When sleeping on the boat, do you leave it on all night? is there an auto shut off or do you have to manually slip it off when it gets warm?

It would not work for very long after the engine is shut down as it is like a car heater it uses engine cooling to heat.
And I am like Mike, we do not stay out at night, just day trips.

ah that makes sense. for me this will be my vacation cabin since real estate out here and the VRBO mess is too expensive for my blood, so I hope to spend many nights on it.
