Default 1990 Maxum 2700 SCR

Boat is currently located in Fort Worth TX but will be moved to FL the first week of July.

I have for sale my 27' long 1990 Maxum Cabin Cruiser. I purchased it 2 years ago and have gone through every system on the boat. You should think of this as a brand new 19 year old boat.

NEW!!! 454 Mercruiser engine with Bravo 2 sterndrive
Kohler 4kw generator
Marine A/C
2 burner alcohol or electric stove top (never been used)
2 sinks
1 marine head (toilet)
35 gallon water tank
105 gallon fuel tank
15 gallon black water tank

The front seating area down below converts using the custom built table into a massive bed where we have slept 5 people (2 adults and 3 kids)

There is a full size bed down under cockpit of the boat.

The interior upholstery was redone right before I purchased it and it still looks brand new.

These project were done Winter 2017/2018:
-Rewired dash and instrument panel
-Rebuilt generator and all new hoses
-Added battery monitor
-Added additional house battery (has total of 3 batteries, 2 for house and one for start) Boat has a battery disconnect so you can run of one or the others or both.
-New Marine Alternator
-Purchase new custom storage cover
-New Trim Tab Pump
-Purchased new all aluminum trailer from seahawk ($5000)

These projects were done this last Winter 2018-2019
-Had the engine professionally rebuilt with new crank, pistons and valve train
- Installed new engine water pump and raw water pump.
-Replaced every hose on the engine
-Installed professionally rebuilt gimbal housing assembly with new steering arm and all new hydraulic rams.
-Installed new trim pump
-Installed new bilge pump with internal float.
-Installed new bulge pump hose
-Corrected all mis-wiring for all electronics done by previous owners or mechanics.

I have a youtube channel under Wander Knapps where you can watch videos off almost all the work I have done on this boat over the last two years.

We are moving to Florida to live on a 50ft sailboat and travel the Caribbean and don't need 2 boats!!!

If this has not sold by the end of June then I will be taking it with me to Florida when I move and will sell it there.

This was a wonderful sized boat for our family of 5. Perfect for the large Texas lakes.

Boat has a dry weight of 8,500. I would say with trailer and all full of gas and water and gear that this is around 11,000 lbs for towing. We pulled it with our 1/2 ton 2004 suburban. It pulled okay but would spin the tires on the steeper boat ramps. Really should be towed with at least a 3/4 ton 4x4 vehicle.

Feel free to call if your SERIOUS and want further details or have further questions.

Are you looking to replace the raw water impeller or the engine circulating pump? What engine and drive do you have?

Should be easy enough to find on line, have you searched for it yet? Amazon and other will have listings and good prices.

Found after market to match at local shop. Was really looking for video or description of how to replace. Found a few YouTube but, setup not really same as mine, thought you might have a link or recommend something " how to replace engine circulating pump - 1990 Mercruiser 454 Bravo"

Have replaced Impeller & tested in- flow, new t-stat, cleaned risers & manifolds... hoses in & out of sea water pump cool, all hoses at t-stat hot.... seems as really can only be engine circ pump

Under Documents of this site you will find the Mercruiser manual for you engine with instructions on how to replace it. Pretty simple; remove belts, remove water pump pulley, remove 4 bolts that hold on the water pump. Note the water pump bolts may also hold brackets for power steering pump and or alternator so you may need to remove them as well. If you can post some good pictures I will be able to give better advice. So many u tubes out there but finding your exact setup may be difficult.

Hey Mike,
Picked up a new Engine Circ Pump today from Mercruiser dealer, removed old and noted new one wasn't a fit... Could not find part # on old one anywhere, took an imprint of mounts... Any idea where I could find correct part # for it?

I know there is two styles; a short neck and long neck but didn’t know the mounts changed. Do you have the serial number of the engine?

It's OC765669
I'd say the one that was on it was "long neck".
Gave that to Mercruiser dealer; however, the part was aftermarket and in stock so, he may have thought it would fit, when did not. Do you think any chance that an Auto Water Pump could match ?
Going to see him in AM.
Thanks again for your assist!

Based on your engine serial number I am getting water pump part number 46-8M0113735 which replaces the original part number.

Randy I hope this resolves the issue, let us know. BTY if you don’t have one get an IR temp sensor and take reading of the engine thermostat housing, exhaust manifolds and elbows. To ensure all are properly cooling.

Hey Mike,
New Circ pump installed with only modest improvement.
I picked up IR Temp Sensor and will have time to test and recheck whole system in a few days.
Flow issue somewhere; plan to remove all hoses, check intake, etc to diagnose & solve

Can’t say I’m really surprised. Take reading of the thermostat housing, exhaust manifolds and elbows. You can also do a flow test found in the Mercruiser manual, by removing the water inlet hose to the thermostat housing and collect the water in a bucket per the time called out in the manual. It will tell you how many gallons should be in the bucket in that time. This will tell you there is proper flow to the engine or not and narrow down where to look.

Hi Mike,
Removed and flushed hoses, ran a flow rate test from raw water pump (filled about 2gallons in 15 sec).
Flow to manifolds was good on port side but, noticably slower on starboard. Took a video of temp readings from IR Temp Sensor & all readings much lower than helm temp gauge.
Readings from T-stat, hoses, manifolds, risers and exhaust hoses noted 20-40 variance from Port to starboard with port manifold temp as highest... Odd, hoses to manifold read as cooler on port when port manifold temp was hotter.
Here is a link to video:
Removed Risers few weeks ago, cleared debris, inspected manifolds and looked good.
Also, ran at 2000rpm tonight with much better temp stability. We assume was result of flushing hoses.
Our thoughts; water flow through system may be inadequate as was less flow from tstat to starboard manifold. Although, were confused that port manifold had higher temp reading.
And, we're thinking farther down system from Risers to exit may be clogged.
Any thoughts on this yourself ?

Hi Mike,
Problem solved, we believe must have been restricted flow in one of the hoses we replaced... Ran like a top last night at full speed and all areas of engine below 130 degrees.
Thank you very much for taking the time to assist!
Kind regards
Randy
