Default Ski tow replacement

Hello,

I'm new to this site as i have just purchased my maxum 1800 SR3 about a week and a half ago.

can anyone tell me what steps i need to take to tighten the ski tow ring on a 2008 SR3. i've looked and looked but can't seem to reach the ends where the nut tightens on... i found the nut lying in the engine compartment.... which i didn't think was very cool

I've already taken taken the boat back to where we purchased it once for things that were installed imporperly or not at all. and they aren't very organized and if it's simple i would just like to do it myself.

I've not done it but I'd imagine its a real pain to get to. You'll have to access it from the engine bay. Which may mean removing your battery, blower hoses and other ancillaries to reach it. It's not going to be a hard job, just a matter of eeking your way round all the bits that are in your way... which may take a while

Hey Brit Rider,

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried and i just can't seem to fit my arm far enough over. it's just to tight.. the bolts look to be behind the live storage (cooler) i can finally get my hand over there and it appears that there is fiberglass surrounding the area...

i't looks to me that the only way to do it is to lift the top off.... I'm just going to take it in. it's covered under warranty it's just a hassle that's all.

thanks for the help

Default Re: Ski tow replacement

I have a 2006 1900SR3
My tow eye was loose when I bought the boat.
The only way to fix this is to cut a hole in the trunk with a hole saw to access the bolts.
I then installed an inspection port to seal the hole.
Worked great!
Takes some guts to cut a hole in your boat, though!
