Default Out drive service

I have had my boat for a year now and it has 65 hours on it. I spoke to my marina last week about winterizing and they are recommending a stern drive service where they pull the drive and check bellow and bearings along with oil changes and such.

What do you think of this service and is it a good idea.

well..they should have done that at the 20 hr mark..but at 100 hrs they should pull the drive and check bellows/bearings/lube spindle..then change all oils....I change mine twice a yr..once in spring..once in fall.....drive gets checked every 300 hrs.....if that helps.....

so...in my mind...I'd do the winter layup of oils changing....and get antifreeze run into the drive...then in spring after you change the oil for commisioning....at 100 hrs..have the drive alignment checked and the bellows/bearings....then I think you'll be up to date!!

but that's my opinion and I'm sticking with it...

Well I went ahead and had the drive service done. Turned out I had a yoke seal in the upper unit that was leaking oil into the bellows. I guess this time it paid off to do the preventive service. Figure I will do it again in 3 years.
