Default Maxum 1800 xr engine

I have a 1800xr with a very tired and thirsty force 120. Can any one suggest a suitable replacement, i will probaly look at 4 strokes for their fuel economy but ant help greatly received. thanks in advance.

I think the merc...max engines are compatable with the old force engines...not an expert by any means in the outboard section....but that's just a guess..

What year is your 1800XR? Forum member djsxr recently replaced his with a new 115hp 4 stroke Yamaha. He seems happy with it. You can see his pictures in the gallery here:

I still have my original Mercury 2 stroke.

Hi
As an update i have replaced said old force 120 with an evinrude 115, what a difference faster quieter but more importantly instead of using £80 of fuel a day (approx 3 hours on the water) i now use £30 for 5 or 6 hours. will post some pics soon
