Default Is anyone using Eelsnot?

I'm ordering in some and was wondering if anyone else has tried it on their Maxum. The reviews are excellent and it's certainly worth I try I think.

Here's their link - Eelsnot

Just the protection to the outdrive will be a great benefit methinks.

Answer here was no, but I have two tubs for the bottom and one for the drives to try this year.

Sorry, I totally missed your original posting. Should have done a search - "my bad".

So I'm not going to be alone in using this on a Maxum - that's great!

Are you going to apply it with the 3M hookpad mounted on a rotary type sander, or by hand?

I thought I just rub it on by hand. That's after I fix all the blisters in my bottom, sand the old paint, and paint with Blue Water Copper Shield Hard that I got...

Yes Mike, we'll be happy to report our thoughts after haulout next fall.

Now I have to make sure to post myself a note to remember, and then remember where I posted it.

I had never heard of the stuff. I keep my boat in a very tannic river. I often arrive at the boat to find a weird brownish-red foam sitting around the leeward side of the boats. It gets trapped between the dock and the boat and gives it a disgusting scumline.

I can use MaryKate On & Off to clean it. That strips the wax off and makes the scumline grow twice as fast. I even scrub the hull once a week with just a rag, but the first 4 inches above the bottom paint still slowly turn a brownish-yellow as the season progresses.

I'm going to give this stuff a try and see if makes a difference. I was going to raise the bottom paint line another 4-5 inches, but this stuff would be much easier.

Did you apply it yet? How'd you do it and how easy was it?

Default Yes - it's on and working.

They include an application pad in each tub of Eelsnot. Simply dip it into the wax like stuff and rub it on where ever you want the protection. I did above and below my waterline and some on the transom under the swim platform.

I also bought a small container of their "Gear" Eelsnot. Again, simply rubbed it on to the outdrive assembly and the prop. So far it looks pretty good - no growth whatsoever.

You can also use a couple of those little round cotton pads the ladies like for make-up as applicator pads. They work just fine.

We'll let you know the final verdict when we haul out in October. Looks pretty promising so far.
