Default Cuddy hatch shock

1999 2300SC Cuddy cabin hatch door has a manual shock that holds the hatch open by raising then tightening a wing nut to lock the shock in place and I would like to know if anyone has ever replaced the shock with a hydraulic one? If so could you possibly give info on where you got the shock and mounts? Pics would be great. Thanks

Referred to as a Gas Strut, Pneumatic Strut, Spring Lift. They make them in electric as well. A hydraulic ram would only be used for something very heavy. Plus it would require pumps, a fluid resevoir, hydraulic hoses, etc. There isn't anything on a small recreational boat that requires that much lifting power.

Pull the existing manual shock and take it to an auto parts store and they may be able to match it up with a strut.

My apologies. I thought it might help you in your search. I certainly didn't mean to offend you. I wish you the best of luck implementing your solution.
