Default Brown stain

Hello everyone,

I store my 2001 Maxum 1800SR boat in a shed and only take it out when going to the lake. Every time I take it out it gets covered in a brown stain at the bottom half of the gelcoat. I think the lake must be covered in brown muck or something.

I used a starbrite stain remover and it comes up white every time.. I see others putting in their boat and comes out just as white as it went in. Is there a coating or something that people put on the gelcoat to prevent brown stains? If so any recommendations?

Sorry if this sounds basic but I'm sick of buying/using stain remover every time.

Thanks :-)

They are most likely using a sealant like 303 or Natural Marine. In our experience, you still do need to have a fairly nice smooth surface for them to be highly successful.
