Anti-fouling painted up to Stern Drive

Hi Guys
I gave the job of re anti-fouling to a guy who I thought knew better, he painted the anti-fouling (despite clear indications that the previous coats stopped One Inch away) right up to the Stern Drive mount - how serious is this

I’ve seen many boats painted this way that didn’t suffer any significant corrosion issues. However if the boat is still out of the water you can just sand it off to maintain the one inch separation.
