Default '98 Maxum 120 Force cowling paint

Hi all,

I need to re-shoot the paint on my lid and the lower unit and, apparently, we can't get the Mercury 'Damascus Gray' paint anymore. Has anyone had to do this lately, and did you find something close in color off the shelf? Thanks!

If you're painting the entire thing, why do you care if the paint matches the original color? Even if you had the original color, it wouldn't match after 22 years of fading from the sun.

Either pick a color that matches the accent colors of the boat, or find any gray paint. Yamaha grey would work fine, I'm sure. Nobody is going to notice that it's not 'Damascus Gray' specifically.

Life is hard enough, no need to make easy things difficult too.

Well, I would, but I'm not going to be painting the main body; just the hood (some peeling) and the lower unit (to fix corrosion (doing water pump anyway). I don't have the room or time to pull the whole motor off for paint. Just was wondering if someone else did something similar and found a decent match in the Krylon catalog. WCS, I buff a spot and have it scanned at the body store and have them mix it. That's expensive here.
