Default 2001 Maxum 2400 SCR sheath mould for cabin hatch

I don't know how to describe it well, but I'm looking for a replacement part for my hatch door. The Maxum 2400 SCR has a cabin door, plus a hatch on top of the door that swivels. I need a new piece of moulding that the hatch slides inside. Does that make sense? Does anyone know where I can get one. It's basically the track/weatherstrip for the top hatch.

Thanks!

SimleandWave welcom aboard

Yep I know exactly what you are talking about as mine is also broken. This part is no longer available. You can take the part to a plastic shop to see if they can make a copy, may costsome $'s

Thanks for the reply Mike. Did you take it to a plastic shop? If so, how much were they asking? What would happen if we just took it all off?

I just left what was remaining when I bought my boat 6 years ago in place. I believe the part is called a cap but from what I have seen doesn't provide a seal, no weather stripping. All 2400 SCR's I have seen it is either broken or gone. I doubt any issues would exist if missing.

I have a mooring cover on my boat that goes from the top of he windshield to the transom and keep the boat in an open but covered high and dry so i don't get any water on it to determine if would leak.

FYI: part number and description 56981 ENTRY HATCH CAP

Mine also broke, cheap plastic. I just made a new one out of some extra laminate flooring I had then I painted it. What I did was take the hatch cover off and used it for a pattern, cut the semi circle then screwed it down. I don't think it is a good idea to run the boat without something to hold the outer edge down. Hitting a good wave could cause it to bounce and possible break the hatch cover off. There is only that one bolt holding it down and that is the one it pivots on.

I have had my boat for 6 seasons and run most of the time with the cabin hatch open without any signs of stress where the hatch might break. In the open postion the complete cap does nothing to hold the hatch down.

However I agree it's not the most rugged design.
