Default where to purchase a raw water pump

i just replaced my impeller in my 5.0 l MPI 2005 mercruiser and it will not draw enough suction to pull the water in from the out drive. If I stick the water hose into the the inlet hose of the pump it will work just fine and cool the engine. The service manger at the boat store told me that the pump needs replaced because there is probably scoring and such in the casing that will cause it to lose suction. Does anyone know of a good place on line to get one?

tbranch21 welcome aboard

What O/D do you have and Alpha or Bravo? Sounds like Bravo from from what you have described.

So if you put a hose to the input of the raw water pump it is OK, correct? My first thought is either the water pick up in the outdrive is clogged.

IMO scoring will not result in that much of a suction loss but instead tear up the impeller faster. How worn did dthe old impeller look?

BTY: just google merc raw water pump to find sources.

Recently I was buying parts for my boat and ebay seams to be a good source of parts at reasonable price as long as you can choose oem parts. Just go to the mercruiser website type in your engine number and look at the part schedule and get proper part #. Type it in ebay search and you're done.
