Default Using earmuffs properly

How much water should I be running when using earmuffs? Mid, high pressure?

I ask because they won't stay on if I run it too high, but any less seems like it's starving the motor of water.

The amount of water pressure that you have at the hose will impact the answer. I typically use full pressure and water will spray out around the muff cuffs but once the engine is started this stops due to the water pumps suction.
