Default temp sender(s) bad?

so one of my temp gauges wont go over 125/130, heat gunned the thermostat housing and its 142.

ground out the wire and the gauge goes to max.

got a new gauge, again, max 130?

got a new sender, same, got another new sender, same?!?

You switched to Volvo engines if I recall; correct? I know on Mercruiser the sensor is on the thermostat housing and the gasket has brass eyelets to ensure a good ground however I have seen these go bad adding resistance throwing off the reading.

I would check the positive and negative voltage at the gauge to verify it matches the other side.
