Default Starter Time?

The end of the season is here in Maryland. A fairly flawless first season with the Maxum all things considered. Had a battery issue that has been sorted and a water distribution valve that was replaced. All was well, so I thought. I noticed over the summer that on a cold start it cranked right up and ran fine, but towards the end of the season a hot/warm start it would crank much slower, though it never failed to eventually start. Today I went to start it one last time for a good flush then a run through of anti freeze and when I hit the key I got a click, no attempt to turn. Each cycle of the key gave a click. I got out the old persuader (hammer) and a after a few whacks on the starter it woke up and started just fine. In my experience with cars/trucks that means its time to replace the starter. The one installed seems to be original, only 155 hours on the motor but 15 years old. Has a sticker that says Marine and J1171. Sound like its time for a starter to everyone else?

Other than pulling and having it tested sounds like it’s time. BTY if I had to go through the trouble of pulling it I would just replace it.

Roger that, on the same page, thanks again and a starter is added to the shopping cart.
