Default Starter advice please

Just as it always goes when you restore a old boat 1984 Sea Ray with Mercruiser 5.7 engine something broke while you are doing something else.
While trying to do a compression test my starter went out after testing 1 cylinder. My question is as fallows: where would you purchase a new starter?
NAPA, Amazon, Mercruiser etc.
I want quality so as not to have change it next year, I want it to last.
What do you suggest?.
Thanks
Steve

First be sure it’s a marine unit so it is ignition protected which is required for the closed confines of a boat where gas fumes can exist. I know folks who purchase from DB Electric and claim to get quality starters.

I got a DB Electric starter from Amazon and it has worked well for years. I couldn't find a better price, and the starter appears to be made in USA and shipped direct from the factory. You may also want to consider re-building your old starter later, it's very easy to do.
