Default New gauges???

Hi everyone,

New to the forum so please excuse me if this topic has already been discussed. I just purchased a 1999 Maxum 4600 SCB with Cummins Diesel engines. We are replacing all original gauges. I was wondering if their is specific gauges that have to be used for Diesel engines? Also what brand do you recommend? Any input is appreciated! Thanks

Most likely your gauges are original from Faria :

You'll want all the standard gauges but if the engines are turbo charged you may want to add a Boost Gauge.

Welcome aboard!

The only gauge that I’m not sure would standard is the tachometer. In a gas engine it gets pulses from the ignition coil but no ignition with a diesel which I’m not sure how that works.

I THINK the Tach on a diesel engine reads the Cam Positioning Sensor....

I figure there would be something like that or old school cable driven.

Thank you for the link. I’m in contact with a tech with Faria now figuring out what we need. I’ll post updated info in case someone else has the same questions.
