Default New Exhaust Questions ?????

So its time to replace my exhaust. What are some on the differences between OEM and some of the aftermarket. Aftermarket has powder coated inside and out, or stainless, and even aluminum. I don't want to brak the bank, but also don't want to waste the money.

Thanks,
Shep

Hi shep....although I don't know alot about exhausts ..I've read that some of the best to have are either stainless steel...or ...the kind with the ceramic inside...they run cooler and help to protect from damaging overheating the exhaust somehow.....but...if your just wanting to replace them..then buy oem....they will last a long time if you make sure you flush the engine after each use......

hopefully someone with some experience in exhaust mani's will chime in and shed some more light for all of us..

Stainless Marine makes really nice SS mainfolds and risers. If you have closed cooling now, you'd most likely need a larger heat exchanger if you wanted to make the exahust closed cooling as well. Otherwise I'd go with OEM only. Again, if you wanted to make the exhaust closed cooled you'd still most likely need a larger heat exchanger even if you went with OEM. Personally, I wouldn't use Osco. I've seen several engines experience reversion with Osco manifolds and risers. These boats didn't have reversion issues with Mercruiser and didn't after being replaced with mercruiser. All three engines I saw with Osco Manifolds and risers needed to be repowered within 2 years of replacing Mercruiser exhaust with Osco exhaust.
