My boat is beeping at me

I have seen the warning tag that says if you hear a beeping similar to the beep you hear at startup that you have something wrong and those 3 things are Oil pressure too low, Temp to High, or Drive line oil too low. While beeping at me, I checked all three and none are out of spec. It beeps periodically but only above 3000 RPM. Anyone experience anything similar?

Hi Woodsracer. The beep is a code. We would need to know the exact beeping.

The Year and model of the motor will also dictate the error codes. Take a look at this link, then find your year and model and see if it helps. Also let us know what the exact beep pattern is.

According to the chart you sent, mine would be page 3. Its a 2003 4.3 carbureted motor. And it says if its a solid horn, which it is not, then stop and check the 3 items and proceed with caution and go to dealer if it continues. The beeping is sporadic. My battery was bad and I just put a new one in last nights. Could that possibly cause the beeping?

Not sure the system would detect a bad battery but take it for a ride and see. If not you stated it happens above 3000 RPM so I an guessing either temp or gear lube. Is the gear lube at the max line? If not the lube will slosh and may set the alarm off. Check the engine temp with a hand held IR sensor to verify engine temp, helm guage may be off.

I changed my oil Saturday before going out. We got out and sure enough, random beeping again. At one point, the beep was solid for about 4 seconds, but other than that just random. I looked in the link that Shrew gave me and my model boat supposedly doesn't give anything other than a long beep if something is wrong. The drive line oil is full, temp was at 175 or so and oil pressure 60-80 while running. I don't get it. It doesn't sputter or anything and has 93 hours on it.

Try removing the alarm sensor wire from each one at a time. Start with disconnecting the lube sensor wore at the reservoir and see if the alarm stops the water sensor and finally oil sensor.

IS your engine Carb or fuel injected? Do you know the serial number range of the motor?

water sensor is on the t-stat housing (one sensor is for the temp gauge the other is the alarm), oil sensor is on the port side of the block in the back down low where the oil filter or adapter is.

Hi All, I found this thread as I have 2 beeps turning on the ignition on my year 2000 2700 SCR 5.7 EFI Bravo 3. I have looked at the link posted for the diagnostics and I can’t see any reference to 2 beeps at ignition on. I’ve no other beeps during running. I‘ve checked the fluids and no problems. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

The guide says 2 beeps per minute is a bad sensor and to have the engine codes read.

Does the 2 beeps only happen on start up or do they continue every minute? If the first then normal condition if the latter you need to scan for fault codes.

Hi Mike,
Only at ignition on. Then nothing else. The engine temp and engine oil pressure are both fine and stable during running. The engine oil level on the dipstick is fine and the oil looks in good condition.

It's just a test of the alarm that occurs when you turn on the key. Normal. If it does not beep, you need to replace the little speaker.

Thanks Phillip, the manual says one beep for ignition on test, not two, and that is the reason for my question - I have two beeps - then nothing more.
I have see it suggested that the second beep indicates a sensor failure - any ideas.

Probably not a bad idea to talk to your mechanic. I've never heard of the 2 beeps = a bad sensor. Has it always beeped twice or is it a new occurrence?

My last boat beeped twice the entire time I owned it and never showed an issue.

It has always beeped twice, it was when I was reading the manual that I noticed it said one beep - and started to worry!
So I thought I would post here for some support from the community.
