Default More HP From 4.3?

Just curious but is there anything that can be done to the 4.3 to tweak a little more hp out of it? It's rated at 190hp, which is decent in a an automotive application but the EFI is 220 and if someone had the interest and the money I'm sure you could open her up even more.

I'm guessing not. At least from a cost/gain perspective.

Like I said, I'm just curious.

Default hp..

you know...I think that if it's epi or mpi..there might be a chip avail ..somewhere....but without pulling the engine and ripping into it to port polish and balance the engine..change the cam and a bunch of other hp improvement stuff......

I've done some reading where a few have replaced the 2bl with a 4br, with manifold of course.

I'll just try a 19 pitch prop.

Default hp..

well..gotta give more info for others to make recommendations to you??....yeah...a 500-500 cfm 4 bbl carb would give you more top end speed...not so much hp....it allows the engine to breath at higher rpms..more efficiently....ie..more gas..more hp..more torque....more rpm speed...if you really want to add some hp..then add a paxton low profile supercharger....but that may cause more hp/torque than your engine can take....
there is always a trade off.....or more directly a cause and effect....if you do this...that may happen....is the engine able to handle another 30-50 hp.....changing the cam profile and adding a 4bble would give the most bang for the buck.....of course being careful to not explode the bottom end.....so it depends on how much you want to get into the engine...if you take it out and tear it down to the basic block...you can go from there with balancing/blue printing the engine.....then porting/polishing the heads to make them breath better.....profiling the cam to meet the rpms.....porting the intakes.....3 angle valve job...and the list goes on and on.......just something to think about...
