Default I've about had it with this Mercruiser...and my wife has had it for sure!

Bought my 99 2300sc on July 1. Since then I had to replace the starter, the ICM and had the carb rebuilt during a tune up. Today I get to the boat and I have no crank at all off of either battery. Throw the batteries on the charger and both are at 80%. And I have NOTHING.

Anyone able to diagnosis a simple fix for this scenario? PLease tell me it's simple or my wife will leave me.

I have had more issues in a month with this boat than I have had in 20 years with 4 other boats. Very frustrating.

pull all the secondary wire off the positive batteries posts., trim pump, bilge pumps, etc.

go under your dash and pull all the fuses out.

look on top of the starter can check the 80amp fusible link, see if its melted.

now,

disconnect your carbon monoxide detector. (they have a 5 year life, and yours is probably pulling 400 mil amp, and the 40mil amps)

let it sit over night, and try to start it the next day. if it works, connect one wire back at a time to isolate each circuit for a short.

every night, do the same with each fuse under the dash, and in 10 days you will find your problem.

If you have/hear absolutely nothing from the starter and the batteries are good it is likely to be something simple. Do you have power everywhere else? When you turn the key to the run position do you get the momentary alarm like normal? Have you checked the saftey kill switch at the throttle control?

Do you get nothing or a single click in the engine bay? I would check your starter slave solenoid.

Check out this thread: http://www.maxumownersclub.com/forum...-starter-motor

Either that or all the lights you put up at christmas

Thanks for the replies...turns out the 3 week old starter crapped the bed already. New one in and lets play.
