Default hours on 5.7 motor

how many hours would you expect to get on a 5.7 bravo3 motor before a rebuild .I have 160hrs and treat it with good care(change the oil every 50hrs etc) but have no idea of the hours you could expect on average??? thanks

well...as you stated ..it depends on the care given to the engine...I have almost 400 hrs on my 2003 6.2ltr mpi engine......I change the oil regularly.....keep the engine in tune...cleaned...properly maintained...

well...I think that a gas engine can last easily 1000 hrs ...again..if properly maintained....cared for...and not abused....

but that's just my opinion...

I run twin 2003 350 mags with Bravo three's.The motors and drives have about 850 hours on them with no big problems. We change the engine and drive oil every 100-150 hours. The water pump implellers once a year.We just changed the caps and rotors for the second time.
The engines run and sound good and don't use oil. I'am shooting for around 1500 hours but we shall see.

The rule of thumb I've always been taught is 2000 hours is expected before a rebuild. if you thrash the motor then expect to do this earlier, if yo unurse it then you can get more.

The drives will need attention before the engine does. These 5.7's go on for years....

I've got to agree, my pal has been an I/O mechanic for 20 years. He says a well maintained merc 5.7 should last for 2000 hours before a complete rebuild is needed.
