Default engine leg and bits

Hi when I bought my 2100sc3 the excitement of my first boat was very high after saving for 5 years and doing my research on what I wanted in a boat the 2100sc3 ticked all the boxes, but it quickly turned to disappointment after 4 months when the leg seared a spline and jammed leaving me stranded and having to call the coastguard to come and rescue me. Then having to wait 8 weeks for the supplier of the boat to get a replacement leg. Next in year 2 the alternator stopped charging the batteries after about 1 hour out ( another call to the coastguard ). I went back to the supplier and was told that I would have to wait 5 weeks and it would cost €500.00, I got the alternator myself within 2 days for €100.00. These two break downs has left me wondering what else will go wrong in year 3. For my next boat I will not be getting another American boat, I will stick to the European boat manufactures

Did you purchase the boat new Irish, or used?

We purchased a used (2004) 2400 SC3 and we are going on our 3rd seasion with it. We have not had a single mechanical problem with the boat. Indeed, no problems of any sort.

I hope year 3 goes better for you!

Dan

first off...welcome to the zoo....2nd off...boat = break out another thousand....and finally ..whether it's a US boat or EURO...stuff happens....if new...there are usually punch list items that just need to be corrected...and on a new boat..not every owner is diligent about maintenance...sometimes stuff happens and can't be explained....
enjoy the boat...stay up on the maintenance items....
