Default Charging System

I’ve have a 1998 2700SCR.
The last, (and first) time I took it out, the House battery went dead. I had to use jumper cables attached to the Starter battery to make it charge back up. I would have thought that the alternator would charge both. When I bought the boat, the engine had been removed, and I installed a new engine. I’ve looked for any unattached wires and have found none. It’s definitely possible the previous owner ‘(s) changed things, as I had to rewire multiple items throughout the boat. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

How many battery switches do you have and in what position are you setting them?

Being set to both should change both battery banks, are you certain the house bank is connected to the switch?

Yes, I’ve checked that.
Do you happen to have a wiring diagram?

The wiring for the 2800 in this manual should be the same.
