Default Bearing preload

Question for the experts regarding Bravo 2 input shaft bearing preload.
Per manual #28, the preload on the bearings should be 6-10 in/lbs.

It doesn’t say whether this is the initial resistance or continued rolling resistance.
As tapered bearings are not forgiving to being loose or over tight, I’m being very cautious on signing off on my work and reinstalling the drives

Any feedback?

The preload is the resistance to rotate the shaft a full turn.

So Mike, are you saying that the spec would be referring to the force while under rotation. I ask because the initial force needed to start turning is a lot higher than the rolling resistance indicated once I’m spinning the shaft.

That’s my understanding of preload.google the phase below and it says sustained axial load.

definition of preload bearing

Thanks for the info.
Confirms the testing I did, so drives are ready to go back on. Thank you!
