Default Alpha One Trim Cylinders

is there a way to test each cylinder to make sure there working?
Will it trim up and down with only one working?

I ask because every time I adjust the top ram pin (center it) it does not trim all the way down the first few times.

the pin pushes to the right leaving a small gap between the main unit and the cylinder. (about a 1/4 inch or so) once its like that it trims down fine.

I did a outside hose change on them about a month ago. (all 4 of them) seems like it may have started then.

thanks in advance

Trim down. remove the cylinders from out-drive. introduce a rope in to the holes and lift them up.
Somebody have to push the trailer baton and you check if works with the same speed.
Good luck.

Put a block of wood under the skeg to support the drive. Disconnect the rams from the tail of the drive. Operate trim up and both should extend, operate trim down and both should retract.

Are you saying it's getting physically hung up? Do you have pictures?

Check your fluid level.

Hard to tell from the picture but are all 4 bushings in good shape that go into the ram ends? Have you tried to tighten the Ram pin nuts?

This is not an issue of a Ram not working but mounting hardware.

Does not look like that the pin has any nuts on it or that or long enough to put nuts on!
I had an older drive and if I am not mistaken the nuts where exposed.
My guess is it is the wrong pin.

I found one of them is not moving. I cracked the fluid fittings and fluid came out so im guessing its the cylinder.

looks like the rebuild kit is only $20

the pin does not have bolts on it. it has "C" clips and caps

has anyone rebuilt one of these? is it difficult?

There are caps that go over the nuts and that’s what you see in his picture.

Nothing difficult if you know what you doing.
You need the right tool to. Don't start banging with hammer and punch to take the end nut off.
You may need something like this:

I was able to get everything apart and new seals ect put in.

it drops in just past the top threads and wont go in.
it came right out without any issues.

Remove the rings and try with out, see if go in.
If not, the pistons are to big. Then you have to use the old pistons with the new rings.
Post here the results.
Good luck.

now that I got it back together and back on. it trims all the way down to the end of the rods. (past the black paint)

any ideas how to correct that?
