Default 4600 with 370 cummins

Looking at buying a 1999 with this power. Any owners out there with this package that can share their experience with power, reliability, etc. I know it won't be a speedy boat but I want to be sure it can at least stay on plane at a 17-18knot cruise. Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard Jrprod!! That's a big boat. 17-18 cruise should be very feasible with a 22 Max. I would expect. Though I'd bet you'd find 14 more around where you'll be running. Just a guess based on where friends with 37-40 ft. aft cabins usually run, though those are gas 454's so that could have something to do with it. (Not really apples to apples).

Thanks for the reply Shrew. I thought so too, but I saw a post on this forum saying that it wouldn't hold plane with a full load, so I was hoping to find an owner with this exact power package that could let me know how it works for them.

I have the 450's in my 4600 and cruise 17-19 knots depending on tide & hull bottom conditions. I've heard mixed feelings on the 370's. Why not keep looking for one with 450's. Unless this deal is so spectacular and you wont mind cruising 15-17 you'll wish you did. The 450's will also have a better resale value.

Thanks Dan. i agree with your logic, but it is potentially a spectacular deal. The 2 knot cruise difference doesn't worry me, but the ability to stay on plane does. Still hope to here from someone in the club with this package, but I really appreciate the input so far.
