Default 1997 Maxum 4600 SCB Tach issues

So I replaced all the gauges with Livorsi gauges. I need some insight on the RPM Tachometer. I have two diesel engines that have a max of 3000 RPMs. Does anyone know if the tachs should read off the alternator or the transmission. I cannot locate the sender and the tach is pegging all the way past the 4000 RPM limit.

Depends on the gauge you chose. Their gauges can read from alternator, mag probe or transmission. Which suffix was on the part number you ordered?

DC4000DA I know mean Alternator. But I need to know where Maxum intended it to read from. And thank you for the quick response.
