Default Temp gauge diagnostics

Good day, 2000 2100SR with 5.7 alpha 1 Gen 2. My temp gauge never moves from just around 110 deg. as you can see in the picture this is where it sits.

I have pulled the sending wire off and grounded it and it did not “peg” the gauge, am I safe to assume that the gauge is bad or is there anything I should check prior to this?

I should clarify that when switched the backlight does come on so there would also be good power going to the gauge as well.

From what you have done it sounds like a bad gauge to me.

Mike I imagine you may have a good thought on this as well?

Why not repaint yours?
One of my friend do that in abstract and have two layers of clear eggshell to have a nice finish.
Looks very nice. But you have to do the acces , gloves compartment door to.

New gauge is in and took it for a quick 10 minute rip (I love having it in the marina!!) before the sun set and worked like a charm. I forgot to get one there so I will post a picture of the new gauge and get your guys opinion on my choice of gauge.

Thanks!!!

Here it is, now I have to change them all though, and I think I’ll get the cluster and glove box door powder coated, should look good.
