Default Reversed Polarity

I was up on hard this past weekend fixing my rumbling noise, zincs and rub rail sealing. Plugged in to the power and realized the "reverse polarity" light was on just AFTER I switched on the main breaker. Did I wreck something? I unplugged the boat, but yard people plugged it back in again, breaker was off, but I think the charger bypasses the panel. Would it have damaged the charger?

Polarity reversed means the shore power hot and neutral are reversed, this is a safety issue mainly. While there is possibility of damage I suspect things are ok.

So have you determined where the polarity reversal is? Marinas are know not to be wired correctly.

Thanks guys. I’ll test out systems and hope all is ok. If the battery charger fried, I’ll know about it pretty quick.

Boat is back in the water now and my slip power is clean. Apparently they overhauled the marina a few years ago to make sure electrical was good, but I guess that only applied to in-water power. I was in a spot between two shops that might not get used much. I’ll let them know there is a problem.
