Default Radar Pedestal for 2800 SCR?

I'm going to be picking up a Garmin GMR 18HD+ unit shortly, and I'm investigating what the best mechanism to mount it on our radar arch is. Right now we just have the allaround light up there, and with the deadrise of the nose of the boat I assume we'll need to elevate the radar by another foot or so over the arch to get the signal to clear while planing. Anyone already solved this problem and has suggestions for which parts to buy?

HI
This is what i did for my simrad , 8 in tower with a 4 deg pitch on top. Most people don't plane on radar (in Fog) unsafe ? there bow is up a bit when going slow and the 4 deg makes it all level.

Ah, neat! I was looking at having to get wedges. Pre-built-in wedge would be much easier. I assume you went with the forward-leaning option + light bar?

I had a 10" Edson mount. It had the angle built into the mount itself. If the light is in the center now, then you can get a mount that also can have a secondary post for a light or GPS installed as well.

Picked up one of the SeaScan 10" forward-facing mounts, 4 degree lean, with light pole. Now to figure out what LED light to get to stick on the end of the pole...

Default Seascan radar mount ..

codingparadox I used the same brand for the radar mount but just the 6 inches . I did put some extra aluminum on the inner part of the radar arc for more support... Maybe I did some overkill set up .. just to be safe Here are some pics of the installation.. Do not forget measure 3 times and when you think that you are ready ... measure again . be ready with your wood sealant and 3m 4200 to make sure that water stay out of the radar area. For the anchor light I used the same one from the boat just cut it with saw and replaced the incandescent light-bull with a LED one .

Good Luck,

I didn't bother with the metal strap since the wood there is quite thick (1/2" or more), and so far, it hasn't fallen off! It's worked great on a couple trips so far, and I just picked up and installed a heading sensor to keep it aligned when at slow speed.
