Default Negative wire.

Hey guys!

1990 2700 scr

I want to install a fan, I have a wire sneak to move the red wire from the fuse panel to where I want the fan to be, however, where to I connect the black wire to? Where is the bus bar located? Can I splice into other ground wires if they are large enough?

Mike

On my boat there is a negative buss bar under the helm near the fuse panel. This is where I made the connection for my gps/chart plotter. I would wire the fan the same way.

Awesome!!! So, do I pull the fuse panel to access the bus bar or do I pull the switch panel at the helm?

On my boat there is a snap on cover that provides assess to all wiring around the fuse block and the negative buss is just to one side of it.

On my 3000, the neg buss was up higher above the breaker panel.
Easiest to get to by removing lower gauge panel.

Boats use a Common Ground system. Connect the ground to any other ground in the system to complete the circuit. The switches open/close the circuit. The positive needs to be fused as closely to the source (battery or panel) as possible. The fuse protects the cricuit (wiring) not the device.
