Default All DC power out

Took the boat out for the first time this season. Cruising along and all DC power went out. Lost nav lights, spotlight, radio all at once. As it was night time on a busy lake it was less then ideal. Engine was still running, gauges are working, boat starts and runs fine. Checked all fuses under helm, but as everything went at once it seems more like a central fuse or breaker. Where would that be on a 1999 2800? I saw some fuses in the engine bay by the charger. Anything else I should be looking for?

Welcome aboard

Are the fuses for the things that stopped working in the same fuse block? If so verify the fuse block has 12V. These low dollar fuse blocks are know for corrosion on contacts that result in poor connections. Yes it may also be one of the fuses at the battery switch.

Welcome aboard "Mjreier"!!!

Did ALL DC power go out, or just some?? You mentioned Gauges working, but not whether the gauge lights were working. Starter worked? Gauge lights and starter are both 12vdc.

Hey guys, got to spend some time working on the problem today. Turns out the 40 amp buss To starboard of the battery selector knob had shaken out. I had to unscrew the holder from the backer board to get to this one. The others were all 7.5s. One of the 7.5 was bad, I replaced it but it didn't fix the problem. Once the 40 was back in place all the accessories, radio, etc worked... Anyone know what each of those 7.5's are for? I didn't see a reference in the manual.

Starter worked. Guages worked. Guage lights did NOT work. See below for fix, my guess is the 40 amp in the back feeds all the switches and radio under the dash. Something else is feeding the guages themselves.

The gauges gets power from the engine's electrical circuit. There is a wiring diagram in the manual for the boat which can be found under the Documents tab of this site.
