Default 1997 Maxum 2100SC 5.7 Mercruser Starting issue

Hi,
I have been having a problem with the boat last few times I have used it, when I turn the key the first 5-15 times there is no response then the engine seems to start no problem (ignition works fine) , once the engine starts there is no problem turning it on and off but after fuelling the boat during which the boat was off for 5 minuets it was doing the same thing again and then the starter seemed to jam the next few times I tried to start it and then engine started up and worked fine for the rest of the day? any thoughts?

So when not starting the engine is not cranking? If so I suspect the slave solenoid is bad. It is about $25 US and is located near the engine circuit breaker.

Thanks for ur reply, No it doesn't crank when turning the key at first, I haven' t had a chance to hav another look at it but will try bridging the solenoid to see if that makes it start straight away, cheers.
