Default New to me Boat and a new boater

Well I made the plunge and bought a 2000 2400 scr . It's the standard 5.0/alpha. I have been cleaning and getting it ready the past week and I finally took it out today in Chesapeake Bay. Still need to figure out the toilet, ac a couple of little things but it runs smooth.

What river are you on? I boat out of Middle River.

What are your questions?

Thanks!
Out of Rock Creek but just rode to Hart Miller today. Well I guess the ac only works with shore power. I can't seem to get the manual pump to work on the toilet. How long have you had your boat?

Bought mine in 2008, it's a 1997 and only had 163 hours when I bought it.

You may need a rebuild kit for the head.

Yep with no generator AC will only run on shore power.

Welcome.

Make sure your seacock for the head is open. If it is and it still does not work make sure the switch is on wet bowl. Is it still is not working a rebuild may be in order. Or for about $500 you can switch to an electric.

Thanks, I looked at the valve and it looks like its open the lever is in the up position in the engine room. I think I like the manual just because it's quiet and easy. May have to do the rebuilt kit. I'm also looking at upgrading to the HF manual. The main reason for the cabin cruiser was wife's request for seperate head, lol

What is not functioning in the head?

If the seacock is closed you will not be able to push down on the plunger while it is in the WET position. It will evacuate the bowl in the dry position just fine.

If the seacock is open and you still can't push the plunger down in the 'wet' position, then there is a blockage between the intake and the head.

It the seacock is open and you can pump in the wet position by no water fills the bowl, then the pump needs a rebuild.

If the pump is in the dry position and does not evacuate the bowl, then the pump needs a rebuild.

If the pump is in the dry position and you still cannot depress the plunger, then there is a blockage between the head and the holding tank, or the holding tank vent is blocked.

What problems are you having? Remember, we're not charging by the word, so feel free to use lots of them LOL

Thanks Shrew,
I think you just solved it for me. I can pump no problem but no water so no blockage. Looks like the rebuild will solve it. I can pump in both the wet and dry position but nothing happens. Good to know that if the seacock is closed then it won't allow the plunger to depress. I am assuming that the seacocks in the up position means it's open and turned to the side is closed.

If the handle is inline with the hose it's open.

Unless the seacock has a 90 degree elbow.

OR, if the handle is parallel with the hull its closed, and perpendicular to the hull and it's open.
