Smile New member from Norway

Hi everyone!

My name is Jon and i live in Fredrikstad, Norway.
Since i couldn`t find any local Maxum owner clubs i thought i would try this one
i`ve just purchased a 1991 2500SCR with a brand new mercruiser 5,7 and this is my first Maxum boat.
The plan for the winter is to rip out all the carpets and wall/roof lining and put in something a bit more modern. The dashboard look a bit outdatet as well so i`m planning to do something with that too.

Hoping for some good advice from you all if, or when, i run into problems

Jon

Welcome aboard.

You mentioned that the engine is new what about the outdrive? If not new did you perform a pressure test to see if the seals leak or see if there are signs of water in the lube?

If not new you should replace the impeller as well.

Post pictures of the project as it progresses, we love watching others projects.

Hi and thanks for the welcome mmwjr!

The outdrive was new last season and seems fine.
I havent pressure tested it or checked the oil in it but the boat is coming out out the water soon.
This is my first boat with an outdrive so im thankfull for every tip and advice.
How often do i have to change the impeller?

I love watching other projects as well so i'll post pics as soon as i get started!

What outdrive do you have will depend on which impeller you get. The small outdrive will be an Alpha or the big outdrive will be the Bravo. The alpha you have seperate the bottom of the drive and the bravo drive there is a housing in the engine compartment.Every another year if you put a lot of hours on your boat to change one out.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info biggerseagar!
Its an Alpha gen II ive got. The previous owner didnt put a lot of hours on it last year and hardly any this year. I think i'll change the impeller next season just to be on the safe side. This season is just about over here in Norway

Every once in a while Jon put some pictures up of where you boat. Your boating scenery is pretty awesome!
