Default New Maxum Owner

Just bought a 1997 2000 SCL by accident yesterday. Got it at auction. Threw 500 bucks on a bid and won. They had listed the make and model so wrong that the combination didnt exist and no one bid on it. Fuel pump is disconnected but I was able to get her started through some creative means.

Think I hit a home run with her, now I just need to find a manual for her to make sure I get everything back right. She's in great shape for a 97. I am still floored at the deal.

Congratulations!

Under Documents of this site you will find the Mercruiser manuals for the engine and drive, not sure about the boat manual but they tend to have very little information.

Before you spend any time or money. Look for any place that has a spongy feel in the deck or sole. Buy a moisture meter and go over the boat. Focus on any soft spots, the sole, stringers and transom.

If it has significant moisture in the stringers or transom, walk away.

Boat hull seems perfect. It honestly looks like someone replaced the engine but stopped short and never finished. I have about been through her now with a fine toothed comb. The last registration was 2017. She has sat a minute. Fuel pump was bad. She has a new carb, had some fuel in the oil. Thinking back yard mechanic got in over their head OR someone passed and this thing just sat, covered up. She was definitely not left to the weather. OEM fuel pump will be here tomorrow. Hope to have her seaworthy by the weekend. Still waiting on bill of sale from auction. Trying to find info on a good propeller for her. Main desire/concern is cruising speed. I dont care about running her WOT as she is a slow boat no matter what is done to her. But fuel consumtion vs distance at around 3500 RPMs is what I would like to optimize. I am thinkin a good 4 blade, 19 pitch prop but will welcome all experienced recommendations.
