Remove the rings and try with out, see if go in. ...

Remove the rings and try with out, see if go in.
If not, the pistons are to big. Then you have to use the old pistons with the new rings.
Post here the results.

Trim down. remove the cylinders from out-drive....

Trim down. remove the cylinders from out-drive. introduce a rope in to the holes and lift them up.
Somebody have to push the trailer baton and you check if works with the same speed.
