I changed out the exhaust bellows, I guess the clips are on the bellows in order to ground the stainless steel clamps, (makes sense)

can anyone tell me what the purpose of the clips are on the exhaust bellows. I thought maybe the bellows had a wire running through to act as continuaty, but I cut an old one and there is nothing...
