Shrew has a point! Might be a good idea to just replace the transom assembly as a whole. They run about $1600 if memory serves.

Is it possible to just cap it off and treat it like an old alpha drive? Those you had to check and top the drive off more often.

If you trailer, you can add fluid regularly or change fluid often...
