I'm extremely familiar with it. I had to replace a transom assembly to address it. Though I've never heard it referred to as such.

Have you checked manifolds and risers? When is the last time they were replaced? How old is the transom assembly? Constriction on the hose passing through the transom assembly can cause heat. ...
