The 3300 should be I/Os with steering assist...

The 3300 should be I/Os with steering assist which is isolated to the stern of the boat. Depending on the body of water he boats on the water may have a oily feel from pollution.

Hey Don in post 1 the OP says it looks like he has rack and pinion steering which is the way it came from the factory.

Only things that come to mind are the compass is leaking or the speedometer tube is leaking allowing sea water to drip. If the compass you should be able to see the fluid level drop as a bubble at...
